Hackers Demand $15M: 1win Battles to Secure Data

The well-known bookmaker 1win is currently dealing with a significant user data breach. According to information shared by the company’s founder, attackers were able to access a portion of the database containing email addresses and phone numbers of approximately 100 million users.

Prior to the breach, there were several large-scale DDOS attacks that overwhelmed even the provider of DDOS protection. Following these attacks, there were multiple attempts to breach the company’s infrastructure, including sending viruses to employees to obtain passwords, various assaults on the infrastructure, and a successful breach of one of the merchants.

Despite efforts to strengthen the information security department, the attackers were able to exploit an existing vulnerability in the system. They demanded a ransom for the stolen data, initially asking for $1 million which later increased to $15 million during negotiations with constantly changing conditions.

The founder of 1win stated, “The blackmailers decided to leak part of the database and initiate information pressure in order to extort a larger sum of money.” The attackers have been using various methods to pressurize the company through media outlets to tarnish its reputation.

The management of 1win has reassured that the company’s infrastructure is currently secure. For more updates, you can follow the latest news on dedicated Telegram channels.
