Red Hat has announced the release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.5. Installation images have been prepared for registered users on the Red Hat Customer Portal. Additionally, ISO images for CentOS Stream 10 and CentOS Stream 9.5, as well as free assemblies for developers, are available for evaluation. Public repositories with binary packets for Rhel 10 are now accessible, catering to architectures like X86_64, S390X (IBM System Z), PPC64le, and Aarch64 (ARM64). The official release of Rhel 10 is anticipated in the first half of next year.
Rhel 10 is built upon the package base of CentOS Stream 10, serving as an Upstream project for Rhel. This ensures control over package preparation for Rhel, enabling the offering of changes and influencing decisions. According to the 13-year support cycle, Rhel 10 will be supported until 2035, with an additional 3 years of expanded paid support. Updates for Rhel 9 will be available until the end of May 2032, while support for Rhel 8 will extend until 2029.
The initial texts of RPM packets for Rhel 10 have been published for free download. However, Rhel 9.5 packages are not publicly available on the git.centos.org repository and are exclusive to company customers under a user agreement (Eula) that prohibits data redistribution and derivative distribution creation. The initial texts of Rhel 9.5 can be found in the CentOS Stream repository, although it may not always align perfectly with Rhel packages. Rocky Linux, Oracle, and SUSE replicate the original texts of RPM Rhel release packages as part of the Openla project.
Some notable changes in Rhel 10 include deprecated features and enhanced security measures, further details of which can be found in the official release notes.
