Cachyos 241110 Launches With THP Shrinker, AMD Boost

The distribution Cachyos 2411110 has been released, based on the ARCH Linux package base and developed as part of a continuous model for delivery of updates. Notable for its optimizations on increasing productivity and providing the possibility of installing various average desktop environments, options for installation include gnome, xfce, i3wm, Wayfire, LXQT, OpenBox, Cinnamon, Cosmic, Ukraine, Lxde, Mate, Budgie, Qtile, Hyprland, and Sway. The size of the installation ISO-image is 2.7 GB, and a separate assembly (2.9) is available for wearable devices with a Gamemode style interface and components for gamers.

File systems such as BTRFS, ZFS, EXT4, XFS, and F2FS can be used. The distribution includes the bore problem planner, optimized to reduce delays on the desktop and increase the priority of interactive processes. The core and packages are collected with LTO optimizations and instructions for processors based on microarchitectures X86-64-V3, X86-64-V4, and Zen4. PGO optimizations or bolt are utilized in the assembly of basic packages. The Cachy-Browser, based on Firefox with security enhancements and performance improvements, is also included.

Main changes in this release include the implementation of the thp shrinker mechanism in the kernel, work to identify and divide large memory pages, and the driver am cache optimizer which utilizes AMD 3D V-Cache technology to increase CPU performance through L3-Cache size or frequency adjustments.
