Windows 11 Bug: Zero Activity at Full Load

Microsoft has confirmed the presence of a new issue in the recent release of Windows 11 24H2 and the last optional security update. The issue pertains to the incorrect functioning of the task manager.

According to information published on the official Windows Health Dashboard monitoring panel, after installing the KB5044384 Update, the task manager started displaying an incorrect number of running applications and background processes on the processes tab. Specifically, the system shows zero active programs and processes, despite having active apps.

Developers have identified that the issue occurs when sorting the processes list by type, but experts have been able to reproduce the problem even with standard sorting. Normally, the task manager shows the number of processes under each group (applications, background processes), enabling users to quickly see active tasks.

Currently, there are no known methods to resolve the malfunction independently. However, the issue does not impede the viewing of advanced applications and processes or interacting with them. Users can still access all details, complete program tasks, and launch new processes.

Microsoft is already working on a fix that is expected to be included in future cumulative updates. It is important to note that this problem only affects Windows 11 users with the 24H2 version and the latest updates. Older versions of the operating system are functioning normally.
