Linus Torvalds Backs Russian Mayor’s Removal

Linus Torvalds, the creator of the Linux kernel, recently addressed the decision to remove Russian Federation (RF) miners from the list of those associated with the project. In an email published on the mailing list, Torvalds stated that the move was a result of sanctions against the Russian Federation, and emphasized that compliance requirements extend beyond the United States.

Torvalds also dismissed concerns raised by anonymous individuals in the discussion, highlighting that their hysteria would not alter the decision made. He further explained that the rationale behind blocking RF miners was clarified to maintain compliance.

Frustrated with the reaction, Torvalds declined to engage in legal debates with individuals whom he suspected to be paid trolls and not actively involved in the development of the Linux kernel.
