Microsoft Unveils 8 Reboots Security Quest

Microsoft recently encountered a problem with the correction of a vulnerability in the BitLocker security function. This vulnerability, identified as CVE-2024-38058 and with a CVSS rating of 6.8, allows attackers to access encrypted data if they have physical access to the device.

After the correction was installed, computers started unexpectedly entering BitLocker recovery mode. Microsoft has determined that this issue is due to certain firmware incompatibility. Consequently, Microsoft made the decision to temporarily halt the correction of this vulnerability during the July Patch Tuesday.
