Open OS Challenge 2024 Announced

The first stage of the open system software competition was launched – Open OS Challenge 2024, conducted by the Linux-Distribution Openscaler Technologies (SberTech) and ANO Center for the Development of Innovation Technologies “IT Planet”. The aim of the competition is to popularize system development and open software. Participants will be given tasks related to programming, administration, and use of the Openscaler Linux-Distribution Compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The prize fund of the competition is a million rubles (1st place – 400 thousand rubles, 2nd place – 300 thousand rubles, 3rd place – 200 thousand rubles, 4th and 5th places – 50 thousand rubles). Five winners will also have the opportunity to attend the Openatom Developers Conference in China in December.

Both professional engineers and programmers who actively use Open Source in their work, as well as enthusiasts, amateurs, and students over 18 years old studying system programming and administration based on Linux, can participate in the competition. Registration for participation was open from August 15 to September 22, 2024. The event timeline is from August 15 to October 27, 2024:

  • From August 15 to September 22, 2024, the first qualifying stage will take place with online testing to determine up to 100 participants with the best results.
  • From September 28 to September 29, 2024, the second qualifying stage will be held to select 15 finalists.
  • On October 26 and 27, 2024, the final stage will occur, and 5 winners will be chosen.

Openscaler is a localized version of Openeuler created by Huawei, based on the Centers package base, and developed together with the Open Atom Foundation.
