Oracle has started testing the second beta version of virtualization system VirtualBox 7.1, with the release expected in the fall. The beta version is designed and tested for compatibility with RHEL 7/8/9, Fedora 35/36/40, OpenSUSE 15.3, Ubuntu 20.04/22.04/24.04, Debian 10/11/12, MacOS, and Windows.
The key changes in the second beta version compared to the first beta version include:
- Initial support for file transfer through the shared clipboard on Linux and Windows platforms.
- Significant increase in video encoding performance in screen recording functions.
- Resolved issues with FreeBSD 12.3 and PFSENSE 2.6.0.
- Addition of support for installers based on Subiquity and Cloud-Init in automatic installation mode, with the option to specify separate passwords for user and administrator accounts.
- Introduction of vboxmanage command management tool “Mount” to identify guest system mounting points.
- Declared Python 2.x API for writing bindings as outdated.
- Enhanced compatibility with Python 3.X branch in vboxshell.
