After seven months of development, the console file manager Midnight Commander 4.8.32 has been published. Developed since 1994, Midnight Commander provides a two-panel interface in the Norton Commander style. The software includes features such as mouse support, a built-in file viewer, syntax backlighting, virtual file system navigation inside archives, packages, and network storage facilities like SFTP and SSH. It also allows the connection of processors for various file types, a quick transition mode to terminal commands, bookmarks for frequent locations, and flexible search capabilities. The project’s code is written in SI language and is distributed under the GPLv3+ license.
