After four months of development, the August Consolidated update KDE Gear 24.08 was presented by the KDE project. This is the third significant update of the application set, published as part of the KDE 6 branch, after transitioning to the use of the QT 6 library. The set includes issues of 250 programs, libraries, and plugins. Information about Live gaps with new applications can be found on this page. In the file manager Dolphin, changes have been made to simplify working with files and directories that require administrator rights. A new option “Move to New Folder…” has been added to the right-click menu, allowing users to create a new directory and move the current file into it. By default, all files are now selected with a double-click in the background. Additionally, the application installation dialog for Filelight is directly accessible from Dolphin, providing information about free disk space.
In the terminal emulator Konsole, a new button has been added to automatically save all displayed terminal information to a separate file. Users can now add bookmarks to easily navigate through long outputs by double-clicking the mouse during scrolling. A special label appears to quickly return to the desired position.
