Activision Unveils 3D Model Of Warzone’s Caldera Island

Activision has made an exciting announcement regarding their popular first-person shooter game, Call of Duty: Warzone. The company has revealed that they are opening up the 3D models and related data used to create the CALDERA game level in the game. This data, which includes an almost complete geometric representation of the level, as well as examples of player movement within the level, has been published in Openusd format under a license that allows for non-profit use. The model encompasses all objects, buildings, and landscape on the island, which is approximately 3 by 3 km in size.

The initial data on the geometry of the level is quite extensive, totaling about 4 GB and including 2 billion points, 5 million polygonal nets, and 28 million primitives. Activision believes that providing access to such a detailed and comprehensive model can potentially aid in the development of new gaming technologies, training and research purposes, and even serve as a valuable resource for training machine learning systems.
