Researchers Uncover New Fraudulent Scheme by Hacker Group
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that researchers have exposed a new fraudulent scheme carried out by the infamous hacker group known as FIN7. Between 2013 and 2018, FIN7 launched attacks on more than 100 companies and organizations in the United States, successfully infiltrating thousands of different systems. The hackers managed to steal over 15,000,000 payment cards within the USA alone, compromising more than 6,500 POS terminals in the process. Subsequently, this stolen data was sold on the darknet to third parties. The FBI has identified several major companies as victims of the hacker group, including Chipotle Mexican Grill, Chili’s, Arby’s, Red Robin, and Jason’s Deli. These companies suffered significant financial losses and endured reputational damage due to the cyberattacks perpetrated by FIN7.
