SELECTEL has launched the open beta testing phase for its new server Linux distribution, SELECTEL OS. This operating system is based on the DEBIAN GNU/Linux 12 package and is designed for the X86_64 architecture, with an installation ISO-image size of 420 MB. It is aimed at both standard and custom server configurations using X86 processors, with plans to support more hardware architectures in the future.
During the beta testing, customers will have access to tools for virtualization systems such as KVM, QEMU, and LIBVIRT, as well as LDAP, monitoring tools like Zabbix and Prometheus, DBMS including Mariadb, PostgreSQL, and MONGODB, backup solutions like Bacula, and container platforms like Kubernetes and Docker. The distribution also supports Apache HTTPD and Nginx as HTTP servers, and integrates with Selectel’s cloud services and object storage S3. SELECTEL has guaranteed support for SLA as part of the product’s features.
The testing phase aims to refine the user migration process and prepare SELECTEL OS for a commercial release by the end of 2024. This launch will mark an important milestone for SELECTEL as it expands its offerings in the server operating system market.
