META Purges 63,000 Yahoo Boys Accounts

Meta announced a crackdown on fraudulent accounts on Instagram related to financial fraud. Over the years, individuals known as Yahoo Boys have been involved in a variety of scams, including Romance Scams, phishing, and Business Email Compromise (BEC) – and this recent campaign is no different.

About 63,000 accounts in Nigeria, targeting users for extortion, were identified and taken down. Among these accounts, a coordinated network of 2500 accounts linked to a group of 20 individuals was unearthed.
