Windows 11 Update Introduces System Advertising

Windows 11 versions 22h2 and 23h2 have seen an increase in the display of advertising and recommendations after installing the latest July updates. According to reports from developers, users will now encounter advertisements in the Start menu and Settings section. These advertising messages often appear as promotions for various applications labeled as “recommendations”. This move is part of Microsoft’s strategy to boost revenue from Windows, despite already having a substantial user base and profitability.

While the introduction of advertising within the operating system may not be well-received by all users, Microsoft assures that the new elements can be disabled. To turn off these advertising features, users can follow these steps:

  1. Open “Settings” (accessible through the Windows key combination).
  2. Navigate to the “Personalization” section.
  3. Choose “Start”.
  4. Disable the option for “show advice recommendations, applications advertising and another” (Show Recommendations for Tips, App Promotions, and More).

It is recommended to use the latest version of the operating system for these settings to function properly.
