Former US President Donald Trump has made clear his plans to crack down on what he refers to as “fraudsters in the elections” if he secures another term in office. In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump specifically targeted Mark Zuckerberg, warning him with the nickname “Zuckerbucks”.
Despite the threat, there is no evidence linking Zuckerberg to election fraud. Trump’s use of the Meta CEO’s name in this context adds a layer of ambiguity to his message.
Trump’s animosity towards Zuckerberg dates back several years, with the former president considering him one of his main political adversaries. The feud, which has been mostly one-sided, began around 10 years ago when Trump referenced Zuckerberg in relation to immigration reform.
Over the years, Trump has consistently criticized Zuckerberg, who has only occasionally responded to the attacks. Tensions escalated after Trump was banned from various social media platforms following the Capitol riot. Even after being reinstated on Facebook, Trump’s hostility towards Zuckerberg remained evident.
Trump’s disdain for Zuckerberg was further highlighted by his expressed preference for banning TikTok over the Chinese social network, citing the potential boost to Facebook and Meta’s business. The ongoing conflict between the two figures underscores the deep-seated animosity that has defined their relationship for years.
It is worth noting that META and its products have been deemed extremist, leading to their prohibition in Russian territory.
