Xiaomi Factory Revolutionizes with One Smartphone Per Second

CEO of Xiaomi announces new smartphone production plant
CEO of Xiaomi Lei Zyun announced the upcoming opening of a new plant for smartphone production near Chanpine, Beijing. Accompanying the announcement was a video review showcasing the factory’s capabilities.
One of the notable features of the new plant is its ability to operate continuously without human intervention, known as the “Dark Factory”. Machines in this facility can interact with each other and maintain a dust-free environment using advanced particle removal technology.
The quality control of products will be overseen by intelligent machines developed in-house by Xiaomi. It is claimed that the manufacturing process can output one smartphone per second.
With an investment of 2.4 billion yuan (approximately $330 million), the Chanpine plant spans 81,000 m2 and has been recognized as a “national exemplary enterprise of smart production”. It is expected to have an annual production capacity of 10 million flagship smartphones, including the new folding models Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 and Xiaomi Mix Flip.
Automation in production is not a new concept for Xiaomi, as the company’s Izhuan smart factory in Beijing has been operational since 2019. The factory played a role in producing Xiaomi’s first folding smartphone, the Xiaomi Mix Fold.
