Tesla Unveils Cleaner Air, Louder Music in EVs

Tesla has finally released the long-awaited software update, version 2024.26, which is now available to employees. This update brings many popular functions to Tesla electric cars.

One of the key additions in this update is the support for two popular musical streaming services – YouTube Music and Amazon Music. While the plan to introduce Amazon Music was initially announced in May, it is now officially available with the release of update 2024.26. Previously, Tesla drivers could listen to YouTube Music by connecting their phones via Bluetooth, but the functionality was limited compared to the “native” application.

Users wishing to access YouTube Music and Amazon Music in their Tesla vehicles will need to subscribe to Premium Connectivity, priced at $10 per month, or have an active Wi-Fi connection. Alternatively, users can use cellular data, but some premium features may not be available.

A subscription to YouTube Premium, costing $13.99 per month, is required for YouTube Music access. On the other hand, Amazon Prime subscribers can access Amazon Music for free without an additional subscription. To use Amazon Music in the car, Premium Connectivity or a Wi-Fi connection/hotspot is necessary.

Aside from the musical services, the update also includes features like displaying weather conditions and the Air Quality Index (AQI) for Premium Connectivity subscribers. However, this data will not be available via Wi-Fi or hotspot as Tesla pays for access to this information. The AQI will only be displayed on the car’s status line if the air quality is poor.

Customers will now be able to click on the temperature displayed on the car screen to view the weather forecast. Pressing the temperature will bring up a pop-up window with information on the day’s maximum and minimum temperatures, as well as the probability of precipitation.

Another notable addition is the ability for drivers to set up parental controls using a PIN code. This includes setting maximum speed limits, limiting acceleration to Chill mode, and enabling various safety features such as speed limit warnings, automatic emergency braking, and frontal collision alerts. Additionally, the Valet mode will send notifications through the Tesla mobile app if the car
