The attack was meticulously orchestrated. In recent weeks, many celebrities have been creating their own memes, so the emergence of a token linked to 50 Cent did not immediately raise suspicion among users. The fraudsters inundated the rapper’s account with posts about the new SOLANA token, some of which even made references to his brand cognac to lend credibility. The posts also made mentions of recent events involving other celebrities, such as the promotion of Daddy Coin by Andrew Tate.
The scheme unfolded rapidly. Just 40 minutes after the initial posts, the Gunit sales volume surged to $18.6 million, and the token’s value skyrocketed by 8000%. However, the liquidity of Gunit plummeted shortly after, drawing attention from more seasoned traders.
50 Cent discovered the hack on his X account and personal site, following which he promptly posted a message on Instagram: “My X account was hacked. I have no involvement with this cryptocurrency. The X administration swiftly suspended my account. In just 30 minutes, scammers managed to generate $300 million.”
Following the rapper’s clarification, the fraudulent operation started to unravel rapidly. Nevertheless, some investors remained unaware that they had become victims of another cryptocurrency scam. At present, the token holds a market value of approximately $150,000.
During the previous week, Daddy Token, backed by Andrew Tate, surged from inception to a market capitalization of $340 million. Additionally, Azalia Mother token also achieved a remarkable market capitalization comparable to the Take Take token.
