Mozilla has released an update correcting various issues with Firefox 127.0.2, including a bug that caused freezing when playing YouTube videos. The bug, identified as problem with the VP9 video format, particularly affecting videos with quality above 1080p.
The problem stems from the incorrect time marks of incoming video clips, causing overlapping fragments in the stream. This inconsistency in the stream prevented Firefox from calculating the start time of the next fragment correctly, resulting in skipped fragments that were not added to the buffer for playback, despite YouTube registering them as received.
Furthermore, the update addressed an error on the Windows platform that caused private mode windows in Firefox to be displayed separately from regular windows. After the correction, both private and regular windows are now grouped together on the taskbar.
