Freerdp 3.6 Released: Free RDP Protocol Implementation

Freerdp 3.6, offering the free implementation of the remote access protocol for the desktop RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol). Developed based on specifications from Microsoft. The project provides a library for integrating RDP support into third-party applications and a client that can be used for remote Windows desktop connection. Project code spreads under the Apache 2.0 license.

In the new version:

  • The decoder’s speed is significantly increased when using various GFX codes.
  • Added experimental support for the expansion of the RDP protocol “ms-Rdpecam” (Remote Desktop Protocol: Video Capture Virtual Channel Extension), designed to transmit data from a video from the RDP client to the RDP server.
  • The experimental implementation of the client transferred to the SDL3 library is proposed.
  • Improved copying.
  • Added support p11-kit and json–C.
