Google has presented the release of the operating system Chrome OS 126 based on the Linux core, UPSTART system manager, EBUILD/Portage assembly, and open components of Chrome 126. The user environment of Chrome OS is limited to a web browser and web applications instead of standard programs. However, Chrome OS includes a full-fledged multi-asser interface, desktop, and taskbar. Screen output is done using the graphic stack Freon, with work underway to transition to Wayland, and the window manager Aura. Source texts are distributed under the free license Apache 2.0. The Chrome OS 126 assembly is available for the majority of relevant models Chromebooks, with Chrome OS Flex available for use on ordinary computers.
