In a recent discovery, the source code of the beta version of Telegram for Android revealed the presence of a new feature called “Fact Check,” aimed at verifying the accuracy of information shared on the platform.
The Telegram channel “Code” reported that the Fact Check function will involve collaboration with agencies specialized in fact-checking. These agencies will provide additional context or clarification to messages to ensure the dissemination of accurate information.
Under this system, governments from various countries will have the authority to designate specific agencies to work in conjunction with Telegram for fact-checking purposes.
One of the key aspects of this fact-checking process is its transparency. Users will have visibility into which agency was responsible for verifying particular information. However, it is important to note that regular users will not have the ability to influence the content provided by the Fact Check feature.
