Plasma 6.1 Beta Version Available for Testing
Users can now test the beta version of the desktop table Plasma 6.1, which is expected to be officially released on June 18. The new release can be tested through live collections from the Opensuse project and assembly from the KDE Neon Testing Edition. Packages for various distributions can be found here.
The main changes in Plasma 6.1 beta version include:
- In the composite manager Kwin, support for triple buffering has been implemented. This allows for smoother rendering and animations by having three screen buffers.
- Support for the technology explicit sync has been added, which reduces delays and eliminates artifacts when outputting graphics.
- Added support for the portal xdg-desktop-portal input capture, used to capture input from isolated applications.
- The method for determining the active screen on which new windows will open has been changed in Kwin.
- A component for remote access to the desktop using the RDP protocol has been integrated.
- A new desktop editing interface has been proposed, allowing users to configure the placement of panels and control widgets.
