The release of the desktop-oriented distribution GhostBSD 04.24.1 has been announced. This distribution is built on the basis of FreeBSD 14-stable and provides the user environment of Mate. Unofficial assemblies are also available with XFCE. By default, GhostBSD uses the ZFS file system. It supports both working in a Live mode and installation on a hard drive using Ginstall, an installer written in Python. The loading images for architecture x86_64 are available for download (2.6 GB).
In this new version, the following updates have been made:
- Synchronization with a branch FreeBSD 14-Stable.
- The Mate desktop has been updated to version 1.28.1 (Mate 1.28 branch not officially announced yet).
- Added support for i2c and the default loading of the Ig4 module (driver for i2C controllers based on the Synopsys Designware chip).
- Includes the Signal Desktop application.
- Fixed issues with the update station. Translated into Russian.
