Holmen resident, Wisconsin, Stephen Anderegg, 42 years old, was arrested for the creation, distribution and storage of materials with sexual violence over children (CSAM) created using generative artificial intelligence.
Anderegg allegedly used the popular textual and graphic model Stable Diffusion to create images of a sexual nature with the participation of minors.
“Many of these images depicted naked or partially dressed minors, obscenely demonstrating or relating to their genitals or engaged in sexual acts with men,” the US Department of Justice said.
The collected evidence from Anderegg devices show that he deliberately created sexual images of children before puberty on the onset of sexual textures.
.
Anderegg also talked with a 15-year-old teenager, to whom he sent sexual materials through Instagram. The man also explained to the teenager how CSAM created and what text hints used.
Anderegg was revealed thanks to the “Cyber Council from the National Center for missing and operated children (NCMEC), after Instagram announced the Anderegg account for the distribution of these images”.
“The federal large jury in the Western district of Wisconsin issued an indictment on May 15, accusing Anderegg of creating, distributing and storing obscene visual images of minors participating in sexual exploduction, as well as the transfer of obscene material to a minor up to 16 years.”
If he is found guilty, AnderegSU may face the maximum punishment in the form of up to 70 years of imprisonment with a mandatory period of five years.
“Technologies can change, but our commitment to the protection of children will remain unchanged,” said Lisa Monaco, deputy general of the prosecutor, general.
“The Ministry of Justice will actively pursue those who produce and distribute materials containing sexual violence over children (CSAM), regardless of the method of their creation. Simply, CSAM created using AI, I will attract CSAM, and we will attract To the responsibility of those who use AI to create obscene, violent and more and more photorealistic images of children, ”Monaco concluded.
