The Fedora Engineering Steering Committee (FESCO) has given the go-ahead for the creation of official ISO images of Fedora Linux with a graphic environment based on a composite manager called Miracle and components for building composite managers referred to as Mir. This decision means that the Spin edition of Fedora with Miracle will be available starting from the release of Fedora Linux 41. This approval was documented in a public announcement made by FESCO.
The main objective behind the creation of this new assembly is to develop a functional and aesthetically pleasing user environment featuring a mosaic (tiling) layout of windows similar to the popular window manager i3. Additionally, the new Fedora assembly aims to incorporate a brighter graphic design with visual effects. One of the key advantages highlighted in this decision is the development of a high-quality environment based on Wayland, which can be utilized on a variety of devices, including low-power devices running on ARM and X86 architectures.
