The latest release of the lightweight window manager, ICEWM 3.5.0, is now available. ICEWM offers users full control through keyboard combinations, virtual desktop usage, task and menu panels, and the ability to group windows using tabs. The window manager can be easily configured through a simple configuration file and supports the use of themes. It also allows for window combinations in the form of tabs and comes with built-in applets for monitoring CPU, memory, and network traffic. Additionally, there are third-party GUI tools available for desktop and menu editing. The code is written in C++ and is licensed under GPL v2.
Some of the key changes in the new version include:
- Added a command line option “-i” or “–install” to install design themes from the collection icewm-extra.
- Implemented the commands “CD” and “PWD” in the target line (command line integrated in the taskbar) and added auto-filling of arguments with file names.
- Documented the keyboard editing keys.
- Ensured compatibility with the NetBSD 10 operating system.
