Creator of Mandrake Linux Launches E/OS 2.0

The release of the mobile platform E/OS 2.0 is now available. This platform is aimed at maintaining custom data confidentiality and was founded by Gael Duval, the creator of the MANDRAKE Linux distribution. The project provides firmware for many popular models of smartphones, including brands like Murena 2, Murena Fairphone 4/5, Murena Teracube 2e, and Murena Pixel 5. These models are now offered with pre-installed firmware/E/OS by various editorial offices like OnePlus, Fairphone, Taracube, and Pixel. The platform currently supports 250 smartphones.

The firmware /E/OS is developed as a branch from the Android platform and utilizes achievements from LineageOS. It is delivered without Google’s binding and infrastructure to maintain compatibility with Android applications while ensuring a high level of confidentiality. The platform also blocks the transmission of telemetry to Google servers, including information like network availability checks, DNS resolving, and exact time determination.

One of the key features of /E/OS is the preinstalled MicroG pack, which allows users to interact with Google services without the need for proprietary components. It offers independent analogues for Google services like location determination and search engine functionalities. For example, the platform uses Mozilla Location Service for location determination and a metapoic service based on the engine Searx for search queries, ensuring anonymity.

Additionally, /E/OS utilizes NTP POOL PROJECT for time synchronization instead of Google NTP and the current provider for DNS servers instead of Google’s 8.8.8.8. The default web browser includes features like advertisement blocking and script tracking prevention. The platform also offers a service for file and application data synchronization based on NEXTCLOUD infrastructure, allowing users to control their data privacy.

The user interface of /E/OS has been significantly redesigned, including its own environment for launching applications called Blisslauncher. This redesign enhances the user experience while maintaining a focus on privacy and data confidentiality.
