Igor Pavlov announced a significant version of the archive 7-zip 24.05. The project code is written in C++ and spreads under the LGPL license. To download Ready-made assemblies for Windows and Linux for architectures i686, X86-64 and ARM 32/64. Unfortunately, in most distributions, an outdated P7ZIP is still supplied for more than 7 years. Probably due to the fact that the 7Z code depends on asmc project, which is not used anywhere else.
In the new version:
- Added support for ZSTD archives (expansion of the name of the file .zst).
- Added support for ZIP, SquashFS and RPM using the compression method ZSTD.
- Added support for the XXH64 hash-algorithm, which is used in ZSTD.
- Added support for the format of the RAR 7 archives with a dictionary of more than 1GB.
- Added support for DMG archives using the compression method XZ (ULMO/LZMA).
- Added support for NTFS-images with a cluster size of more than 64 KB.
