This action ultimately led to the arrest of a suspect involved with the Catalan organization for independence known as “Democratic Tsunami”.
The controversy surrounding Proton Mail’s handling of user data resurfaced when it was revealed that the service provided the Spanish police with the reserve email address of an individual using the pseudonym “Xuxo Rondinaire”. This individual is suspected to be an officer of the Catalonia Police, known as Mossos d’esquadra, who allegedly utilized their position to support the activities of “Democratic Tsunami”. Sources involved in the investigation have confirmed that the suspect is, in fact, an active police officer.
