The distribution of the daphile 24.05, based on the Gentoo Linux and designed for storing and playing a music collection, has been released. This distribution can be installed on a computer without a screen and offers a Web interface for managing the music collection. The distribution comes in two versions: one with the regular Linux kernel (319 MB) and another with components for specific tasks like network streaming services and USB drives.
Daphile 24.05 can function as a sound server, network storage, and wireless access point. It supports playback from internal drives, network streaming services, and external USB drives. For optimal sound quality and multi-zone audio systems, Daphile allows the connection of analog amplifiers through USB digital-analog converters.
In the new version of Daphile:
- Updated lms (lyrion music server) to version 8.5.2, Perl to 5.38, and Linux to 6.6, using GCC 13.2 for assembly.
- Updated plugins for integration with SPOTIFY 4.10.1, TIDAL 1.4.6, QOBUZ 3.5.0, Deezer 2.81.4, and YouTube 0.212.
- Removed support for Mysqueezebox.com.
- Added Crypt :: Blowfish to enhance plugin performance.
- Added the ability to preserve the contents of a sound CD in WAV format.
- Replaced the CDDB music library with information from gnudb.
- Added support for accessing external network drives via SMB3 and WebDav protocols.
- Implemented automatic color theme selection for the Web interface based on the device’s chosen topic.
- Used the LZMA algorithm to compress core modules and firmware files, and Zquashfs – ZSTD to compress the root image.
