The distribution of Linux “Alt Workstation 10.2” is now available, offering the KDE desktop and catering to a wide range of users for both office and home use. This distribution is also compatible with Active Directory infrastructure, allowing for authentication in the domain, access to file resources, and print resources. It is built for the X86_64 architecture and is based on the ALT platform 10.
Individuals are free to use the downloaded version, including individual entrepreneurs. Commercial and state organizations can download and test the distribution, but for permanent use in corporate infrastructure, legal entities must purchase licenses or enter into licensing agreements.
The main updates in this release include:
- Updated KDE Gear 2308 application set and KDE Frameworks 5.113 libraries.
- Updates to Samba 4.19, Gpupdate 0.9.13.8, Wine 9.0, and LibreOffice 7.6.
- Inclusion of proprietary NVIDIA 550 drivers with the ability to launch applications using a discrete NVIDIA video card from the main menu.
- Integration of a weather forecast widget with information from the Yandex Weather service.
- Option for users to choose between a dark or bright design theme upon first login.
- Automatic creation of a swap file in the root section or @home subsection in btrfs instead of using a separate SWAP section.
- Resolved issues with the initialization of environment variables in the Wayland user session and the functionality of some USB-connected scanners.
