FreeBSD Unveils New Graphic Installer

The FreeBSD Foundation is currently working on developing a new graphic installer for FreeBSD, aimed at providing a more user-friendly installation and initial setup process, particularly for beginners. The new installer is designed to cater to users who prefer graphic interfaces over text-based ones, as it aims to make the system more appealing to those who view text interfaces as outdated. Additionally, the graphic installer will help create a more cohesive environment for users utilizing FreeBSD as the foundation for their user environment.

The new installer will utilize established components of the existing BSDINSTALL installer for installation processes. The graphical interface is achieved through the implementation of new tools called GBSDDIALOG, which replace the tools used for building bsddialog console dialogs. These new tools incorporate dialogs and widgets based on the GTK library, enhancing the overall user experience during the installation process.
