Developer Nate Graham, responsible for quality control in the KDE project, has recently published a report on the preparations for the release of KDE Plasma 6.1, scheduled for June 18, as well as the upcoming release of corrective issue 6.0.5, planned for May 21. Some of the recent changes added to the code base for update 6.0.5 include the prohibition of choosing a set of Adwaita and High Contrast icons from the GNOME project as system themes in the configurator. This decision was made due to issues that arise when installing these icons in KDE, such as missing necessary icons or displaying damaged file icons.
Other changes made for the upcoming KDE Plasma 6.1 release include adjustments to the maximum size of Kickoff (Application Launcher) and Kicker (Application Menu), fixes for Kwin crashes on Wayland, and the removal of a Plasma crash when changing the set of selected applications through various menu implementations.
Additionally, recent changes in the KDE Plasma 6.1 branch involve updates to the composite manager of Kwin, changes in the logic of compiling a list of recently used files in the KATA text editor, a new interface for choosing desktop wallpapers, improvements in the notification output system, updates to the interface when changing global design themes, and real-time display of energy consumption profile changes in the “Power and Battle” widget.
