The European Union has initiated an investigation into Meta for potential violations of new rules designed to safeguard the integrity of elections prior to the upcoming European Parliament voting in June. This investigation stems from the provisions of the DMA act, which mandate that major tech companies have measures in place to combat interference in sensitive political events, such as elections.
One of the key factors prompting this investigation is an operation known as “Doppelgänger”, which involves Meta and its products being labeled as extremist, leading to their prohibition in the Russian Federation.
