The experimental release of Wine 9.7, the open implementation of Win32 API, recently took place. Since the release of version 9.6, 18 errors have been fixed and 123 changes have been implemented.
Some of the key changes in Wine 9.7 include:
- The addition of support for creating executable files in the arm64x format, which can contain code for both ABI ARM64EC and ARM64. New options have been added to WineBuild and WineGC to generate assembly for ARM64X.
- Enhanced support for arm64ec ABI, which simplifies porting applications originally designed for X86_64 architecture to ARM64 systems by enabling the use of an emulator for separate modules.
- Restructuring of the driver interface for the graphic API Vulkan.
- Improvements in interpreting the WIDL interface description language, providing support for ARM architecture and Typelib in the old SLTG format.
- Resolution of errors affecting popular games such as Command and Conquer Ra II, Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun, Oregon Trail II, Mediev II Total War, and Totem Arts Launcher.
- Fixes for various applications including Msys2, Processhacker 2.x, Clang 6.0, Notepad ++, Explorer.exe, Geovision Parashara’s Light, Advanced IP Scanner, MSPAINT, ON1 RAW PHOTO EDIT Or, and hp system diagnostics.
