According to a report by Forrester, there are currently around 50 models of AI-computers available in the market, but they lack a “key application” that would make them essential tools for business users.
The study titled “The Year of the AI-Computer will occur in 2025” highlights the importance for companies to prepare for upcoming changes by shifting focus from traditional personal computers to solutions heavily integrated with artificial intelligence.
Furthermore, with the end of official support for Windows 10 set for October 14, 2025, many enterprises will need to transition to Windows 11, which is expected to support AI-computers. Forrester recommends caution in making purchases and suggests monitoring the market before investing in new equipment.
The report suggests that certain professionals such as creatives, data analysts, and developers stand to benefit significantly from using AI-PCs, while for most office workers, AI-computers are not yet indispensable for daily tasks.
Forrester forecasts a threefold increase in budgets for AI platforms by 2024, which could drive the adoption of AI-computers for various tasks in 2025.
In addition to AI-computers, analysts point out that mobile devices have also seen advancements in hardware with AI capabilities, allowing them to efficiently handle neural network tasks.
Despite the buzz surrounding AI-Computers, Forrester advises caution to enterprises and warns against rushing into investments in new technology as significant spending at this stage may not be justified. However, the landscape may change rapidly next year.
