OPENZITI 1.0 RELEASED

Openziti 1.0 has been presented with a focus on addressing issues surrounding the instrumentation of distributed network interaction and contacting services within an isolated network environment. This technology enables the expansion of an overlaid network specific to applied applications, functioning on top of the traditional Internet infrastructure through MESH-marching, connecting each network point through neighboring points. The project code, written in Go, is subject to the Apache 2.0 license. Bindings are available for languages such as c, Go, python, swift, java, node.js, and c# (.Net) along with tools for android application integration.

The Openziti system is primarily designed for establishing networks that guarantee and insulate traffic in hostile environments where nodes may be compromised (zero Trust architecture). This technology can replace VPNs for communication with applications. The network’s operation is facilitated through components such as the Controller, which handles network configuration, authentication, service setup, and authorized nodes, as well as nodes that function as routers to form the Mesh network, allowing transit traffic. Additional services can be added to balance the load and enhance failure tolerance.

Access to the overlaid network is achieved through specialized Openziti Edge Clients that enable contacting from the outer network to the overlaid network created using Openziti. Tunnels can be created to facilitate this connectivity.
