Phosh 0.38 Released with GNOME Integrations

Phosh 0.38, a screen shell for mobile devices based on GNOME technology and GTK library, has been released. Originally developed by Purism as an analogue of Gnome Shell for the Librem 5 smartphone, Phosh is now one of the unofficial GNOME projects and is used in Postmarketos, Mobian, some firmware for Pine64 devices, and smartphone editorial office. Phosh utilizes the composite server phoc, which runs on top of Wayland, as well as its own screen keyboard. The projects are distributed under the GPLv3+ license.

In the new release:

  • In the Launcher, applications now have the ability to display additional indicators with meters and progress in performing operations.
  • The work on devices with screens having rounded corners has been improved.
  • The multimedia player now has the capability to process data from the link (URI).
  • The operation of screen initiators (OSD) has been improved.
  • Issues with the scaling of background images have been resolved.
  • Sessions can now be launched using Gnome-Session 46.
