JENSEN JUANG: AI TO CREATE EVERY PIXEL GAME IN 10 YEARS

At the NVIDIA GPU Technology Conference, Jensen Huang shared his futuristic vision for technology. During the conference, Huang addressed questions regarding games developed using artificial intelligence, stating his expectation for such games to emerge within the next 5-10 years. This information was reported by Tom’s Hardware, quoting Nvidia.

Traditionally, video cards have been utilized for game rendering through rasterization, with the recent addition of ray tracing hardware to enhance image realism. However, the focus is now shifting towards AI processors, which are employed to create intricate generative neural networks on a larger scale. These tools include Stable Diffusion, Chatgpt, Chatrtx, Sora, and others.

Huang envisions a future where AI will be responsible for generating computer graphics. Notably, the emphasis is on generation rather than elimination. He predicts that fully AI-generated games could surface in the next decade, with initial attempts potentially emerging within the next five years.

While the notion of requesting an RPG game about pirates with realistic graphics and instantly receiving a fully developed game on a personal computer within the next 10-20 years seems unlikely, AI is currently capable of generating images, sound, 3D models, video, and code. The quality of this generated content continuously improves with each new model iteration.

Looking ahead ten years, it is conceivable to envision AI-based tools capable of swiftly creating models, levels, code, plots, and other game components within minutes. By shifting primary computations to the cloud, the idea of generating games “on the fly” no longer appears unfeasible.

Responding to inquiries about the potential for a video game where each pixel is AI-generated, Huang suggested that within five years, we will witness a world undergoing real-time transformations.

Furthermore, there are existing examples of effortlessly creating games using AI tools. Huang posits that even an inferior game produced by AI in under ten minutes would surpass the capabilities of most individuals. With the ability to swiftly iterate on ideas, the creation of superior games could occur at a much faster rate. Huang highlights that AI democratizes the coding process, eliminating the need for years of schooling to write code and scripts.
