In the framework of the project redict, a fork of Redis has been developed which branched from release 7.2.4. This fork will continue to be supplied under the BSD license. Redict is designed to be a transparent replacement of Redis 7.2.4, however, compatibility with future versions of Redis, which will be released under a proprietary license, is not guaranteed.
The Redict code license has been changed from BSD to GPLV3. This means that Redict can receive corrections published for old versions of Redis under the BSD license, but corrections and changes made under the GPLV3 license for Redict cannot be transferred to Redis. The project also does not require developers to sign an agreement to transfer property rights to the code. In the event of a potential future change in license, coordination with each developer will be required.
