Hackers Earn Millions in Computer Clubs with Secret Mining Farm

The Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg has issued a verdict against Alexei Murzin, who was found guilty of engaging in illegal cryptocurrency mining activities in computer clubs.

According to the case details, Murzin and his accomplice developed a program that enabled them to bypass the security systems of the clubs and access the hard drives of the computers. By renting computers under the guise of playing games, the duo managed to infiltrate the systems and install a T-Rex mining program for cryptocurrency extraction.

Subsequently, the club’s equipment was used to mine cryptocurrency, with the profits being transferred to the hackers’ personal accounts. The investigation revealed that the attackers had amassed approximately 20 million rubles through their illicit activities. Murzin claimed that the funds were generated from trading cryptocurrencies on exchanges.

In light of the evidence presented, the court ruled Alexei Murzin guilty and sentenced him to 3 years of restricted freedom. During this period, he will be required to adhere to a curfew, regularly check in with law enforcement, and refrain from attending large gatherings or events.
