After a year of development, a new stable release of the LIVE-Distribution grml 2024.02 has been published. This distribution is based on the DEBIAN GNU/Linux package base and includes a selection of programs for textual data processing using the Texttools package, as well as tools for system administrators to handle tasks like data restoration and incident analysis. The graphic environment of the distribution is built using the window manager fluxbox . The full ISO-image size is 915 MB , with a reduced size version available at 508 MB .
In the new release :
- Packet synchronization with the Debian Testing repository as of February 26, including an update of the Linux kernel to version 6.6.
- The utility GRML-hwinfo has been added, along with the Ethtool utility for obtaining information about network devices.
- Initial support for the ARM64 (AARCH64) architecture has been added, as well as preparation for the future release of Debian 13 (Trixie) in the GRML-Live assembly tools. Unified boot options are now used in Syslinux and Grub.
- Support for Arm64 and EFI architecture has been incorporated into GRML-debootstrap for launching in virtual machines.
- Newly included packages consist of DHCPCD, F3, FWUPD, LOLCAT, LZ4, PIXZ, Toilet, and UDISKS2.
- Issues with Dmraid, DSTAT, FAI-SERVER, FAKEROOT, FIRMWARE-EK-HTC, and ISO-CODES have been resolved, mainly due to problems with support or discontinued dependencies.
