SPACEX’S ORBITAL MOBILE INTERNET HITS 17 MBIT/S

On March 3, 2024, engineers at SpaceX conducted tests on the Starlink satellite, recording a maximum load speed of about 17 Mbps. This technology breakthrough is a significant development in the journey towards space connectivity.

The Direct to Cell concept involves equipping certain Starlink satellites with modems, enabling them to function as mobile towers in space. This means that smartphones can directly connect to these satellites, similar to connecting to a traditional cell tower, to receive signals. This innovation proves to be highly beneficial in areas where terrestrial coverage is limited or inaccessible, such as mountainous regions, open seas, or remote forests.
