Independent Study on Open Source in Russia Shows Interesting Results
The scientific publication “N + 1” recently published the results of an independent study on the state of Open Source in Russia. The study aimed to uncover who is involved in open source projects in the country, their motivations, and the barriers to further development. The report, based on a survey of 661 volunteers and interviews with 20 experts, delves into technical aspects and personal attitudes towards the subject.
According to the study, 58.4% of respondents believe that Open Source knows no boundaries and there are no distinct “Russian Opensors,” while almost 70% feel that modern companies should actively participate in Open Source initiatives.
