The distribution of Arch Linux went on Pacman 6.1, a new release of the package manager. This version includes support for the built-in server Cacheserver, caching bags to accelerate the loading of packages and simplify the creation of mirrors.
Among other changes in Pacman 6.1:
- The addition of additional specifiers of formatting output to the “–print” option.
- The possibility of adding advanced fields with package data.
- Enhanced detailed diagnosis for conflicts between files or damaged packages.
- Improved support for the Key catalog wkd (Web Key Directory).
- Improved processing of incorrect headers during loading.
- Transition to OpenSSL for calculating Hashes Sha256 and MD5.
- Various improvements and changes in the Makepkg utility.
- Changes in the behavior of the REPO-DDD utility.
Furthermore, a new release of the Installer Archinstall 2.7.2 has been noted. Since April 2021, it has been included as an option in the Arch Linux installation ISO images. Archinstall offers a console or automatic mode and can replace the default manual installation mode of the distribution. It supports installation profiles for various purposes like desktop, web server, and database installations.
Changes in the new version of Archinstall include:
- Documentation for “-Skip-NTP” to disable time synchronization.
- Improved support for Unified Kernel Image (UKI) images.
- Addition of Lithuanian translation.
- Updated files with locals.
