Wine 9.3 Released with Proton 9.0 Beta

The experimental release of the open implementation of Win32 API – Wine 9.3 took place. Since the release of version 9.2, 23 error reports have been closed and 295 changes have been made.

The most important changes are as follows:

  • In the API Windows Internet (Wininet), support for work through a proxy has been added.
  • A new mouhid.sys driver for devices to control touchpads and mice using HID (Human Interface Device) has been added.
  • Updated data on time zones.
  • Continued work to improve exception processing on ARM platforms.
  • Various errors related to the functioning of games and applications have been resolved.

Valve Betting Package Proton 9.0 has also been released. Proton is based on the Wine project and aims to enable the running of gaming applications created for Windows in the Steam catalog on Linux. This package includes implementations of DirectX 9/10/11 and DirectX 12, support for Vulkan API, enhanced gaming controller support, and improved full-screen mode capabilities, among other features.

In the new branch of Proton, Wine 9.0 has been released. Certain patches from Proton have been integrated into the main Wine project, and related components like DXVK layer and VKD3D-Proton have been updated to the latest versions. Games such as Dinogen Online, George McGehan Gamer Hero, Lord of the Rings: Gollum, and others have been added to the list of supported games.

However, there are some known problems with starting certain games like Airborne Kingdom, Bayonetta, Biomutant, and others.
