Google Introduces First Developer Preview of Android 15
Google recently unveiled the first test version of the open mobile platform Android 15. The official release of Android 15 is expected in the third quarter of 2024. To give developers an opportunity to evaluate the new features of the platform, Google has introduced a program for preliminary testing available through the Android Beta program. Firmware assemblies have been prepared for a variety of devices including Pixel 6/6a Pro, Pixel 7/7a/7 Pro, Pixel 8/8a/8 Pro, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet.

- In the services for showing advertising in mobile applications, the latest achievements include the implementation of a personalization technique for advertising without violating the user’s confidentiality.
- Health Connect now supports new types of data used in sports and nutrition control, such as tracking average steps and consumption of trans fats.
- The API FileinTegrityManager now includes the Linux mechanism fs-Verity for transparent control and authenticity of individual files based on cryptographic signatures.
- The API allows for capturing individual application windows for joint access to the screen.
- Enhancements to camera control and image processing algorithms, including brightness adjustments in low light and intensity settings for focus.
- The addition of virtual MIDI device support for creating apps with musical instruments and synthesizers, following the MIDI 2.0 specification.
