Georgia state authorities have announced a search for 30-year-old Zayon River Shak, a murder suspect who was mistakenly released by Kleiton district authorities last week.
Last week, Shak was transferred from the Fulton district prison to participate in a planned court session under the custody of the Cleiton County sheriff. However, following the hearing, a mix-up occurred and he was mistakenly set free, as reported by WSB.
According to ABC News, Shak had been held at the Fulton district prison since 2020, although his details have not yet been disclosed.
The sheriff’s deputies are currently engaged in an active search to locate Shak.
This week, officials from the Fulton district have stated that the judicial and other systems of Georgia’s most densely populated district were hacked over the weekend, resulting in disruption to normal operations.
Robb Pitts, the chairman of the district commission, addressed the public through a video posted on social media on Monday, stating that the Fulton district is facing a “large-scale system failure” due to a “cybersecurity incident”. He noted that the incident impact the district’s telephone, judicial, and tax systems.
